'Film Noir'

This was one of the first real shorts I made
in the 2nd candidacy @ KASK.

It's a short sequence, leading to a climax,
about 1min long.
The technique is 2d, graphics with pencils,
charcoal and ecoline paint.

'Sinji'

'Sinji' stands for blue, in Russian.
The title refers to the global feeling in the film,
a cold, bitter and hard overtone.

This was a group work made by Roman Klochov,
Maxim Vandeputte and meself. The music was
composed by a German composer.

The story is about a constant flow, a mechanism,
interupted by 'rats', struggling and ultimatly
conquering the distortion.

'Een mislukte voorstelling'

'An unavailing play' was the first of 3 shorts I made
in the 1sth master @ KASK.

The technique used is stop motion -paper clip animation
recorded with an ancient Bolex camera.
There are some pictures of this camera in my portofolio
- portofolio graphics.

The story was based on a very short poem by Daniil Charms,
one of Russia's most absurd writers, 1920 - 1942.

The sound recording was extremely droll and foul but this
inspired me later on for the sound effects I used in my
graduation film 'Zu Stramm'.

'Coque au vin'

'Coque au vin' was made in the 1sth master (3rd year) @ KASK.
This was the last of 3 shorts I made that year.

The story is about sadism, hate and frustration, resolving into
total despair and devastation.

The graphics are simple so that the animation emerges completely.
The actual animations were made entirely with a biro whereby a
spontaneous and sometimes unexpected dynamics in motion was
created.

I had allot of pleasure making the sound effects in the studio,
not one real chicken was used, only humans.
At some point the whole studio was packed with people cackling
there guts out.
